Warming Up in the New Year

Warming Up in the New Year

It is that time of year again right after the holidays, and the new years resolutions are at full swing.  Now is the time to unpack all of those pounds from Thanksgiving and Christmas. Let’s start warming up for the new year.
There are a number of exercises to warming up before a workout, but they all have the same common denominator.  They all will get your heart rate up, your blood pumping, and loosening up your muscles.  The following exercises will help get you started if you do not know where to start.

  • Jumping Jacks
  • Running in Place
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Sprawls
  • Push ups
  • Crunches
  • Squats
  • Side Shuffles
  • Jump with switch
  • Hops
  • Jumping Rope

The list above is not an exhaustive list by any means, but can get you started, and then you can build up from there.  Warming up is very important in any workout.  It helps loosen our bodies, getting the blood flowing, and prevents injury when working out hard.  Warming up consists of cardio based exercises which is the best way to limber up.
